Welcome to Laser Chess
It's the game that combines lasers with classic strategy for an experience enjoyed by players of all ages!
Command an army of pieces including a laser-firing cannon and various reflective objects to eliminate your
opponent's King. Much like traditional chess and other strategy games, players are forced to think about
the playing field as a whole. Learning to play is easy, because unlike chess, each piece moves the same way.
The object of the game is to capture or zap your opponent's King.
Laser Chess was the cover winner in COMPUTE! Magazine, June 1987.
It won a prize for the best game design back then and has remained a popular favorite ever since. Over the years,
modern editions of Laser Chess have appeared, and we are pleased to introduce our version of Laser Chess to the TrayGames
library.
Laser Chess requires 2 players, but a basic AI is available for you to play against so you can practice
the game. Of course we invite you to find friends to play with too! There are also advanced Laser Chess versions around too.
These versions add more pieces, increase board size and therefore increase complexity and play time. We've implemented
the game as close to the original rules as possible, be sure to check out the
How to play section for all of the rules.
